Service Description
At Wayfarer, our L3: Bareboat Skippers ICC course equips you with the fundamental skills to confidently navigate and command a sailing yacht in a range of maritime conditions. Over the weekend you'll cover: Navigation techniques; essential safety protocols for the wellbeing of all crew; effective onboard management; comprehensive weather analysis for passage planning; seamanship — anchoring, mooring, and docking; emergency procedures and crisis management; COLREGs (the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea); and practical sailing sessions to build real hands-on experience. Upon successful completion, you'll be awarded the internationally recognised ICC (International Certificate of Competence) — a credential confirming you're ready to handle a bareboat yacht independently, and a prerequisite for chartering vessels in Europe. This is not a beginners' course: [100nm — see note above] of logged seatime is required to start. The course runs Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. All food and accommodation are covered — you'll be staying aboard for the full weekend, based in the Hauraki Gulf. Join us at Wayfarer to build your sailing expertise and take the next step toward the freedom of bareboat cruising.
