Stephen and Peter, the lead skippers at Wayfarer, bring decades of combined maritime expertise to every lesson. Qualifications: Airline pilot, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, Advanced Marine Engineering

Peter's journey began on the rugged North Sea, where he developed a deep-rooted respect for maritime precision and vessel maintenance. His teaching style is focused on empowering students with technical confidence, ensuring they not only know how to sail but understand the mechanics of the ocean. At Wayfarer, he bridges the gap between traditional seamanship and modern stewardship, mentoring the next generation of Auckland's sailors with patience and expert insight.

Stephen’s journey began in the rugged waters of the Hauraki Gulf, where he learned that sailing is as much about character as it is about trim. With decades of international  sailing under his belt, his teaching style focuses on calm authority and technical precision. He believes that a true skipper isn't measured by speed, but by the trust they build with their crew and the respect they show the ocean.
